Anonymous
An unidentified connection established to a website, which is untraceable.
Bandwidth
This is a measure of data that has been transferred from a server to a website in a certain period of time.
Blacklist
A list acquired by the Internet service providers which shows details of IP addresses blocked to prevent the users of sending email messages as they have been suspected of spamming.
Bypass
Using a proxy site to route around a secure filtering system in place to block users from certain websites.
Cache
A web browser or server feature which stores copies of web pages on a computer’s hard disk. The location where web pages that have been visited are stored, allowing them to be accessed faster next time.
CGI
This can have two meanings one being “Computer generated imagery” and the second “Common Gateway interference” the second one relates to proxy sites it translates data from a web server and then displays this data on a web page or in an Email.
DNS
Domain name system is a system which stores information about host names and domains. They are a system of servers in place to handle internet connections and the routing of email; they translate domain names in to IP addresses.
Gateway
A page used to attract visitors or search engines to a certain website.
Glype
This is a free proxy script written in PHP allowing users full anonymous surfing hiding their IP address.
HTTP
Hypertext Transfer Protocol is the set of rules for transferring files on the World Wide Web.
Intercepting proxy (transparent proxy)
This combines a proxy server with a gateway. Connections made through this gateway are redirected through the proxy server without using the client side configuration.
IP address
Internet Protocol address is a numeric address that is translated in to a domain name by the DNS.
Monetizing
The strategy of establishing and placing adverts and other forms of income on a website these could be text links or secondary forms of income like an email subscription.
PHP
Hypertext pre-processor is a programming language used to make many of today’s proxy scripts.
PHP Proxy
This is one form of script which is designed to allow users to surf websites whilst keeping all of their details safe and secure.
PHP Phantom
A free web proxy script offering different results to other proxy scripts that it is competing with.
Proxy
A server placed between a user and the internet that acts as a gateway to allow the user a connection to a destination (website).
Server
A machine that stores large quantities of information in the form of files, images programs/software everything that you can see on the internet. They can share data with certain connections to a remote destination this being a user surfing the internet.
SOCKS
SOCKS is an Internet protocol that allows client-server applications to transparently use the services of a network firewall.
URL
Universal Resource Locator – The name of your website
Web proxy
A web proxy depends mainly on word wide web traffic they provide a means to filter through denied access of certain URLs in a blacklist usually created in a workplace or school.
Zelune
This web proxy script allows users to surf websites keeping all their details safe and secure. Each proxy script available offers a variety of different options and choices each have their advantages and disadvantages.
