This is something most if not all website owners dream of, getting number one position for the best keyword related to their website. For example ‘SEO‘ for a website like this one would be amazing, it would bring thousands of unique views and the website would spread across the internet quickly, due to the number of links it would receive.
Anyways firstly, you need to pick out the keywords within your website, the niche/topic that your website relates to. You need to find which keywords are the most obvious keywords that people may search for in search engines.
You need to know what your target market will search for, what they will type in to the search bar. Don’t necessarily go for the short keywords like “SEO” it is much better whilst your website is growing to go for the long tailed keywords by this I mean keywords like this ‘How to use SEO on my website’ so basically key phrases. This has a smaller amount of results and is a less competitive keyword, which allows you to have a higher chance at getting the top ten rankings for the keyword.
However do not just focus on one long tailed phrase though, research your market and find a couple of appropriate long tailed phrases to focus on.
After you have researched your market and found the keywords you’re going to concentrate on using to get you a good search engine position. You now need to insert these terms in to your website, starting with headers, titles adding them to ”titles” and to ”h” tags is the first thing to do. Secondly add them within your content. The key here is to add the key phrases enough so that when search engines crawl your website they notice that these terms are popular with in your website and therefore consider these to be important to your websites content and market.
What you do not want to do here though is to incorporate key phrases too many times within one page or the whole website. As Google may penalize you for this, as they think you are just spamming your website. Keep the density of keywords to about 5%-10% you can check this by using keyword density tools.
In conclusion find the keywords of your websites market and topic incorporate these keywords and phrases in to your websites content then benefit from them by increased pagerank and search engine positioning.
