Handy Hints For Website Submission

You have a good website representing your company on the internet. The website has been designed very well by talented designers. The content is also of very good quality. You have made sure the web site is search engine friendly and simple to use. But how do you submit your web site to good search engines and web directories for listing? You aim is to be at the top, so submissions must be made carefully. Here are some handy hints for making the correct submissions.

For search engines, you will have to submit your web site URL and contact details. If your web site is legal and not offensive, the search engines accept your submission and the spider looks up your home page and gets the site indexed on the search engine. Web sites that have spam are removed from the index once they are discovered. It is better to have a good link structure and relevant results because search engines want to keep good sites for their own popularity.

The thumb rule to be remembered: don’t overdo it. Search engines know their job, so if you have submitted your web site once, it will be indexed unless it has violated some rules. There is no point in repeated submissions, because only one URL is allowed for your site at a time. Some web sites have found a way out of this. They use different links for the same site. This is ok to an extent, only as long as all the links show relevant results.

For directories, choose categories wisely, especially if you are limited to listing in just one or two categories. Manual submission is advisable for directories. This is because categorization is better done by humans. On the other hand, for search engines, you could use some automatic submission to save time.

When should I resubmit? The ideal waiting time after one submission would be about six months. After that, it is better to analyse your web site status and resubmit the URL. In case your web site has been removed from the index for causes unknown, a resubmission ensures that your web site URL is added to their database. There are several articles on the internet that could help you choose the right strategy for submissions. It wouldn’t hurt to get guidance from the experts. Consider your budget and time and then opt for a suitable plan of action for web site submission.
